The “2nd Global Bay Areas Development International Conference: Regional Cooperation and Institutional Innovation” was successfully held on November 5, 2022. Jointly organized by Sun Yat-sen University’s Institute for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Development, University of Macau’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Research Center, and Lingnan University’s Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute, the conference featured five thematic forums with over 100 scholars participating online.
UM representatives including Prof. Hu Weixing, Dean of Social Sciences and Director of the GBA Research Center, delivered keynote speeches emphasizing institutional innovation as key to the Greater Bay Area’s development. Experts from San Francisco, Tokyo and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Areas shared comparative perspectives on regional development.
The conference has established itself as an important platform for international academic exchange on bay area development, building on the success of its inaugural session in 2021. Future collaboration will continue among the organizing institutions to strengthen this scholarly dialogue.
